As a solo performer, Allan likes to sing and play an even balance of self-penned material as well as paying tribute to some of the musicians who have influenced him over the past four decades, most notably Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, Bert Jansch, Jonathan Kelly, Ray Davies, Guy Clark, Gram Parsons, Joni Mitchell, Ryan Adams, The Beatles and The Band. Allan has been a regular member of the folk and acoustic scene in South Yorkshire for over twenty years, playing in various bands and combos.
