Lyrics

Many say that Nick has left us with a small but very meaningful legacy.
Here we have a man who started to write and magic flew from his pen.
Some dare say his lyrics are immature, a young man talking about the things
that trouble many a youngster & that he never had the chance to 'grow' up in his lyrics.
Now you do him a favour and read the lyrics. Let them sink in. Think about them.
What feeling do they give you? Sense them. Then, only then, give your opinion.
Does this sound like someone who hardly knew about life?
Or perhaps more as someone... who knew too much...?

Sometimes melancholic in their meaning, one might easily mistake the lyrics for depressed words.
However, if you look closely, here's someone who had figured out things quite thoroughly.
Here's someone not afraid of telling it the way he sees things, someone who pays great attention
to everything around him & who can teach us a little lesson in the way we look at life...
In the way we live life...

The lyrics on these pages can be divided into two sections;
- songs written by Nick Drake himself -
- songs written by someone else, but Nick has sung them, so they have appeared on cd -
