Would the campers of this year please at least email us
to let us know they will come and with how many people?
You do not need to book, but we'd like yo keep an eye on the numbers,
plus you'd be put on the info mailinglist in case of any changes and
to receive more information later on on how to get there, etc.
Campers: Bring firewood!

Gathering news and requests:
Campers are requested to bring firewood for the campfire.
Donations of firewood by none-campers are welcomed too.
Now that the official application time is closed and all requests since March
the 1st
for playing at the Nick Drake gathering are being put on the waitinglist,
the organisers
are busy putting lists together of the applicants. We have received many and
are trying
to put in as many as possible. Please note that those who have put in a request
will receive
more information in due time as soon as the meetings are over and decisions
have been made.
We can however already let on that there will be some international performers
again.
Please note that all camping will be at the Umberslade Estate this year.
Costs are 5 pounds per person per night. Payment on arrival. No reservation
needed.

Tanworth-In-Arden. The area has some nice places to stay, but please note
that
this is the country side and public transportation is limited.
Please note that performers wishing to play at the annual Nick Drake
gathering can ONLY apply via
the application form which can be downloaded on the site in the performers
section. They will be accepted
ONLY from Dec 1st 2010 until Feb 28th 2011. No first come, first serve, everybody
applying within
this timespan will be considered equally. Anything before will NOT be counted
and anything after

Nick Drake radio special.
There will be a tribute to Nick Drake which will be broadcasting on Into The
Music on
Radio National in Australia coming weekend - 23rd October 2010.

The first part of the program is about Joe Boyd remembering Nick and the
second half
contains bassist Danny Thompson remembering Nick and the session for recording
Five Leaves Left.
It contains some new insights not yet in the public domain and is said to
be of great interest.
Annual Nick Drake Gathering
The annual Nick Drake Gathering performers are known!
You cannot request to play anymore. Please find more information on the

Please remember the dates are earlier this year!
Friday 23rd of July and Saturday 24th of July.
People who wish to camp should send an email via the gathering website.
There is very likely going to be a campsite again by the children's farm which
has
facilities at a walking distance from the site. They charge a small fee per
night.
Australian event seeks performers
Passing it on from the other side of the world for the fans/musicians who
live there;
Nick Drake - Songs that draw deep from the well of humanity.
Hello,
Its been 2 years since we last had a night to celebrate the beautiful, evocative
music of Nick Drake.
The good news is we are going to do it again this year, on Saturday 19th June,
at the X Wray Cafe here in our lovely port city - Fremantle.
This is just a preliminary message calling for performers, ideas and support.
If you would like to participate, please contact us and we'll take it from
there.
The event format will be similar to what we have been using for the Inspiring
Songwriter Series.
We are looking for acoustic acts solo/duo to do 25 minute sets with at least
3/4 Nick Drake
songs plus a couple of originals that may have been influenced by him.
And the reason for the event ? ... it his birthday on 19th June.
Its astonishing how his music has continued to flourish; the sensitivity of
lyrics,
the beauty of the sounds and the tragedy of his untimely death seem to resonate
with so many.
Music that taps so deep into the well of humanity.

EVEN if you have already have put in a request prior to December.
Your request will not be counted unless you put in the request within the
given time frame!
Regulars please note you will need to put in a request this year as well,
you will not
be asked, it has to come from you in order to give new faces a fighting chance.

With sadness we have to announce the following;
R.I.P. Robert Kirby, who passed away October the 3rd.
It is said he died during a heart surgery. Read about Robert and the message
from Gabrielle Drake about this on this page here.
There is also a book
of concolences there where you can leave a message and/or a memory.
Our thoughts and support go out to his family and friends.

Keith Morris: Parting Shots

Nick’s fans need no introduction to the work of Keith Morris who took the front cover photo to Nick’s debut album ‘Five Leaves Left’ and photographed Nick on three occasions in his career. A former apprentice to David Bailey, Morris began his photographic career snapping the inhabitants of a south Wales mining town and soon took to shooting in the streets of 1960’s London. What these images revealed was Morris’ unique capacity to tell a story. This ability, was once again recognised by Marc Bolan, with whom Morris developed a close relationship. He toured extensively with the musician and became the house photographer on the Born to Boogie set – shooting Elton John, Marc Bolan and Ringo Starr extensively. London Gallery Proud Central will display this unique ability in an exhibition that features images of the Damned, Elvis Costello, the Rolling Stones, The Who, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin and many more; Proud Central will present the only opportunity to see the complete exhibition, exhibition, which will not tour after its time at Proud. www.keithmorrisphoto.co.uk

the Nick Drake Gathering events you can look up and find your ideal

There are 2 lists available for download and print one is a .txt
file and the other .doc or word file, they each contain a list of
taxi numbers the first three of which are used by the locals of
Tanworth-in-Arden and the others found online.
Please though DO look at the links to the right of the page marked by
area ie. Wolverhampton, Solihull, Redditch, Birmingham. You may find
better numbers there or even some you recognise and would prefer to
use.
Guitar Workshop
Along side of the concerts this year there will be a guitar workshop
held in
the Scout Hut in Tanworth-in-Arden between 11.00am and 1.00pm on Saturday
1st of August 2009,
where people can attend and learn skills and techniques for playing the music
of Nick Drake so please
bring along your guitars and join in.
Camping
If anyone coming to the gathering still wishes to camp, we now have an extra
campsite
(in a field) at Umberslade Farm so some spaces are still available. Camping
is free of charge.

Nick was on the cover of Mojo issue of June 2009 and there is an article
inside as well accompanied by some previously unseen pictures of Nick by
Keith Morris. Please note Keith had not forgotten about these and even though
he did prefer black&white, these particular negatives had been misplaced
(Keith told me) and they must have surfaced after Keith's death, whilst clearing
out
the dark room where he had a cabinet with huge drawers all filled to the brim
with
negatives of the many many people he had photographed during his life.
Now for those who have missed it, apparently this Mojo issue cannot be
back-ordered anymore, but the article and pictures will soon be available
on here, so stay tuned and you'll be able to get a peak as well!
