March 2007 - Start 2007 - A Reminder
![]()
The dates for the annual Nick Drake gathering 2009 are;
Friday July the 31st and Saturday August the 1st.
Note; We are very sorry it coincides with the
Cambridge Folk Festival,
but the church was already booked for weddings for all surrounding dates.
In 2010 we hope to be able to try to avoid any overlapping dates with
other important folk festivals. Thank you for your understanding.
Even though the annual Nick Drake gathering 2008 is still more or less only
right
behind us we have already been filling our lists for next year. Saturday is
already full.
There are still some places for the Friday. So anyone interested in playing,
please
let us know via the official gathering website. (links can be found below)
The annual gathering website has undergone some changes and has an
easier to remember address. Hayley-Jane has done her best to make them
work and look good. You can find pictures, links, musicians lists and information.
She has also put together a photo book of the 2008 gathering and it looks
wonderful. You can order it by following the link on the website.
New adresses are;
(mirror site)
For anyone on myspace, there is an official page there too with many
of the musicians pages linked through the friends list;
Bookmark them for your own convenience.
The Programme and Performers List of this year's gathering is now online.
Please follow the link here
to the page.

It is now official, this year's Nick Drake Gathering will have a
3rd day!
On Sunday August the 3rd there will be a special recital of about
45 minutes long.
It will be a classical recital of songs that Nick used to like to listen to.
Please stay tuned for this year's programme of all 3 days, plus the performers
list.
I wil add it soon. There will be no workshop this year.
If anybody is interested in camping, please send me an email.
Camping will still be at Philip & Annabel's. We are also looking into
finding beds at the homes of locals as all other accomodations are so
easily filled. We do not want to leave anybody hanging out to dry.
Especially not if it rains. ;)
Please remember that this small event is for the fans by the fans.
Therefore we try to keep everything free, but donations are always
welcome.
Please find out how on the donations page or send
an email. Thank you.
We wish you Happy Easter!
NOTE: At the moment there is the idea of planning a recital on Sunday
the 3rd of August,
after the general two days of the Nick Gathering. This is under review
at the moment and
needs the 'go ahead' by the church's Director of Music. She is however interested,
so it is very likely it will happen. So if you are interested in
hearing some accessible
classical music that Nick used to appreciate by a composer who actually
was in contact
with Molly Drake, put it in your agenda just to be sure!
More info will follow soon!
June 19th 2008, on the birthday of Nick Drake there will
be a concert
in Florence, Italy. Nick's songs will be performed by a full
harmonic orchestra.
More info will follow as soon as more is know from the organisers.
The information page about this year's gathering on this
site has just been added.
You can now vote whether you'll come and for which day(s).
It can be found here.
The Annual
Gathering website is temporarily down for updates.
We're sorting out the emails and play requests at the moment, so
please stand by and hang in there! We'll have more info soon!
Campers for this year as well; we're looking into a place with more space
to camp,
so be patient a little while longer and we'll let you know!
Of course the Fruit Tree remastered version has been released
last year;
for more info please visit the official site of The
Estate of Nick Drake.
The dates for this year's annual gathering will be;
Friday the 1st of August 2008 - Village Hall
Saturday the 2nd of August 2008 - Church
Requests to come and play have been plenty already, so if you want a place,
send me an email!
It is very likely though we may already only still have a place for you on
the Friday only.
Camping is still free. But we are looking into moving the main campsite to
the Children's Farm for this year.
There have been some people lost the past two years who wanted to go to that
campsite as the first one was full,
but couldn't find it. In order to keep everybody together as much as possible,
we may look into
a move to have everybody camp there. If you wish to camp, please let me know.
Thanks, Denise

Although the weather has been causing alot of problems, Tanworth-in-Arden
is
still ok. There has been some minor flooding on some of the steeper lanes,
but that
has been all. For the campers; the ground seems still reasonably ok considering.
Just try to drive slowly over any grassy bits and all should be fine. Everything
is still on.
Also the donations button is now pointing to an English page and nolonger
to a Dutch one.
Apologies for any inconvenience that may have occured before this because
of it. Thanks.

The Family Tree album has been released!

Newly added to the Annual Gathering Page;
Musicians list & Event
Programme
Don't forget to vote if you're coming or not! Musicians on the playlist need not vote of course.
Nick Drake gathering & website profile added on MySpace
& on Facebook.
Newly added; the Media page. Please look in the menu on
the left to go there.
Here you can find audio & video. You will not find Nick's songs, nor bits
of it,
as I am not allowed to do this. However, whatever is being shared out there
I have gathered and am sharing with you for free, for personal use ONLY.
This way, hopefully, you will not be ripped off on Ebay for 'special' copies.
Audio & video documentaries, Gabrielle reading a letter to Nick, etc...
Also newly added is a short bit by Peter Rice on the Stories
page.
And you can have a virtual walk through the Tanworth graveyard and
'visit' Nick's grave. You can find that in the Photogallery under 'Places'.
Also the looks of the site, messageboard & guestbook have been tweaked.

Cally, the manager of The Estate has written an explanatory letter about
the decisions & actions of The Estate. This was a reply to a complaint
on the forums of nickdrake.com. You can download it here; Letter.

The Annual Nick Drake Tanworth-In-Arden Gathering has it's
5th year anniversary this year. The musicians list has filled up very
quickly and soon I'll upload the list. Some of these musicians have
been there since the beginning. A very special thanks goes out for
their loyalty, talent and enthusiam. This is the first year we've had to
disappoint some regulars to make room for new musicians, who
of course, also deserve a chance to play. It promises to be another
two days filled with lots of musical talent. Fun fact; the new vicar
of Tanworth-In-Arden and his wife will be performing as well.

It is done by HARP's online magazine, dated April 11th, 2007.

The TIA Church needs help
The church is in dire need of a new walking path in the graveyard.
When it rains the path now becomes near to dangerous as it is easy to
slip and fall. This is especially dangerous what with all the tomb stones.
Breaking limbs or hitting one's head is now a definite possibility.
Also funerals are made hard this way. Imagine a loved one having died
and the coffin having to be carried along that path. Nobody wants to see it
fall with their loved one in it. Or imagine the elderly wanting to tend to
family
graves. If they break something they usally are destined to spend the rest
of their days in a wheel chair or even in bed. And if you don't want to think
of
those people, then think of the possible danger to yourself when visiting
Nick's grave, which lies directly next to the path. Or even the possible damage
to the grave itself if something or someone falls on top of it.
Why am I scaring you like that? Well... here's the deal;
Funding is difficult and the council is slow in granding any (insufficient)
funds.
Therefore any donations are extremely welcome. If you wish to make a donation
or know
someone who you think would want to, then please send me an email
or get into direct contact
with either the vicar himself or one of the church wardens. See contact information
below.

Profile (yes really)
You can also read his wonderful sermons there.

First;
I'd like to apologise to people who haven't heard from me yet.
I am (and have been) struggling with personal issues and I am trying hard
to
keep track of everything, so sit tight, because I will answer my
emails.
If a month has passed and it's still quiet, please mail me again about it,
so your
older emails won't get lost in the pile! I am very sorry for the terrible
delay.
For all those who have asked about the John Peel Session,
please scroll down and find the link to the mp3. Thank you.
There may also be a P.O. Box coming so you'll be able to write to me
about the site or have me forward a letter to Gabrielle or Joe Boyd, or...
ask me and see if I have their contact
details...
