The Tribute Gathering was wonderful... Read about it as it was presented.
As soon as I've gathered some pictures and such I will put it up here!
There were about 160 people present! The evening was full of pleasant music (and surprises!)
ZDF Germany is broadcasting a bit about Nick and the Tribute as well tonight at 22.30
in the programme 'Aspekte'. BBC Birmingham will let me know as soon as they know
when they'll broadcast their programme 'Inside Out'. Keep posted!

There is some news from Cally of The Estate Of Nick Drake;
A video for 'Riverman'!

"There is no film footage of Nick Drake and precious few photographs.
Nick moved in an era when performing music was often enough -
there were few promotional films ever made and few recorded TV appearances
open to any musician, let alone one as unknown as Nick. I’m not sure
how many of these Nick would have made even by today’s multi-visual demands.

Nick avoided the noise of ‘Celebrity’, he made few public ‘live appearances’,
he sang “If songs were lines in a conversation, the situation would be fine”
and there we would feel inclined to leave it.

His songs now speak to millions. Nick’s music has had a profound and personal impact on other artists too.
We decided to make a series of short films recording these impressions in a series called ‘A Place To Be’.
The first candidate was the Film Director Tim Pope. He made several ground-breaking pop promos
in the 80s and 90s particularly several for Talk Talk, The The, The Cure and Soft Cell.
He later concentrated on directing feature films and documentaries, but Nick managed to drag him back
into the world of the pop promo after 10 years. Tim has been an admirer of Nick’s for many years,
and he leapt at the challenge of filming ‘River Man’ despite the obvious restrictions. Combining
the photographs by Keith Morris with newly commissioned work by Paul Rider, Tim has made
his own impressionistic film about Nick Drake and the world of ‘River Man’."

Here's an email-letter from Cally (The Estate Of Nick Drake)
on the well-discussed & still to be released 'Family Tree'.
Thanks Cally! ;)

Dear Denise,

We have been working on Family tree for 4 years.
We aim to release a CD that is better than the bootlegs.
Better in performance, better in sound quality, better in packaging, better in price,
and better in availability.

It astounds us how cheaply and nastily bootleggers decide to package their releases,
the high price betrays a contempt for the contents - the fact that some of the music is not Nick at all,
the fact that it all seems to run at the wrong speed and that the quality of performances
are often clearly not those that Nick would have ever allowed to be heard -
also seems to reinforce this disrespectful contempt. It seems strange that anyone
would want to do this to Nick.

It has taken us a long time to prepare ‘Family Tree’. We would like to do this once only as best we can.
So often, new material surfaces and all of it has to be listened to, assessed and cleaned up if necessary.

No tracks are guaranteed to be included yet, but the release should illustrate two things:
Nick’s journey through music in his home environment and the material he performed in his early live set.

Cally

The new post-humous cd 'Made To Love Magic' has been released!
If you'd like to order it, you can do so via your local stores or via Amazon.co.uk.
It has been released as a cd and also on vinyl! There is a single too called 'Magic'.

The new album has created quite some waves in musicland. Besides the BBC radio specials
and the fact that Nick finally is being played on mainstream radio, it is said
that the single 'Magic' has actually reached the Top 40!!! 30 years too late, but one
can only conclude out of this that it is finally Nick's year!

Keith Morris is showing some of his pictures of Nick in a gallery
in West-London from June 17th - Aug 28th 2004. The showing is called "3 Days".
"Redferns Music Picture Gallery are proud to present a very special
collection of photographs featuring Nick Drake."

The Biography and the Discography have been added, however not all of the links are working yet.
I will add them as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

A little point for your attention however; in the Biography there will be links with exclusive news.
Something that's not in the Biography book by Patrick Humphries and has not been in the documentaries.
One of them, perhaps the most important & exclusive one, is already working; so have a look! ;)

On September the 2nd, as it looks now, I will be in a radioprogramme by Omroep Hilversum
called "DE LOKALE TIJD" to talk about Nick. And some of his music will be played then too.
It will be aired 'live' from 19-21 hour Dutch time. The 'red thread' about Nick will be
from about a little past 19.30 till a little before 20.30, so almost an hour!

From August 29 on, the website of the programme will be active again.
It will be mentioned on there as well then.
The site about Omroep Hilversum itself can be found here

Radiofrequencies; 106.2 Ether & 103.3 Cable

So listen if you can! ;)
